Located in Taroko National Park, this hot spring area is currently closed. I was told about this hot spring when I met a guy from Taichung while camping around the area. He told me he used to frequent this area and the hot spring was one of his favourite hang out. Next day taking his advise, we drove 2km up north from our campsite to seek out the hot spring. Watch me and Siboy our dog how we got to the hot dip!!
The entrance is located before a road tunnel with a barrier and a warning sign says that violator would be punished according to the law. Having been in Taroko Gorge 4 times and not knowing this beautiful place, I am going to chance it.
Date of closure
It was a long hike down flight of steps
right in infront is a bath house for hot springer but currently bath house is not in operation
more steps
the one and only biggest obstacle to the hot spring. Guess how we got pass this gate?! A hint..you have to be slim and fit.
once pass the gate of mercy, you are rewarded with a bridge crossing to the other side of Eden
with a beautiful view of the river below us
curved out steps..slippery when wet
by the river we sing "Babylon"....
Here we sat down...Oh Oh ya
Used to be a pool here but was destroyed by Typhoon
Now this is Eden...Natural hot spring water from the crack of the wall..Be warned, it is 48 deg C and above!! However there is another make do pool by the river and the temperature is much lower. You can see them in the few picture before this. Someone had place some rocks around it and tried the sealed the pool with polythene.
A little history of the hot spring
